Benjamin Brede nominated me for the Liebster award. It was a very, very nice surprise. So thank you for that, Benjamin.
The Liebster Award is an award that welcomes “new” bloggers that have less than 1,000 followers. It’s an awesome award that brings recognition to new bloggers and also opens up an opportunity to get to know more about them.
The rules are:
1.) Link back to the person who nominated you.
2.) Share 11 facts about yourself.
3.) Answer 11 questions that were asked by the person who nominated you.
4.) Nominate 11 people who you think deserve the Liebster Award.
5.) Ask 11 questions to your nominees to answer.
Eleven facts about me? Seriously? You think I can come up with eleven (!) facts that would be interesting enough to post here? I’ll try but I can’t make any promises.
1 – I love ice cream.
2 – When I was a teen, I watched Tequila Sunrise so many times that I knew the film by heart. Like, the entire film!
3 – I wish I lived by the ocean.
4 – Apart from writing, my other passion is cooking (can’t you tell from all the recipes I post here?)
5 – I want to travel to Scandinavia.
6 – I have never in my life owned a car, an aprtment or a house.
7 – I love airports. I’d spend hours there if I could (I once did when I missed a connecting flight in Vienna).
8 – … er, what else? Out of all my friends and family, I always have the most ancient cell phone, but the newest laptop. What can I say, I hate phones, love computers.
9 – I love getting snail mail. There’s nothing better than a package in my mailbox. If it’s a new book, all the better.
10 – Ok, I’m running out of ideas, here … I hate shopping. I mostly buy clothes online.
11 – … er … I hate having to think up facts about myself? Does that count? Oh, how about this: a few years back, I went bungee jumping? It was sublime. Kind of like surfing, only crazier and less graceful.
Ok, now on to the questions that Benjamin asked:
1 – What is your favorite memory?
Every memory of the month spent in Australia.
2 – What is your favorite thing to talk about?
Writing, psychology, politics, sports …
3 – What is your favorite thing to write about (this is very different than the previous question)?
Interesting characters, angst, love.
4 – What is your favorite thing about yourself?
5 – If you could live anywhere for three months, where would it be?
Australia or Scandinavia.
6 – Why do you write?
It’s who I am. I don’t remember a time in my life when I wouldn’t be making up stories and later, when I learned to write, putting them down on paper.
7 – What keeps you motivated?
To write? See above. I don’t need any particular motivation; it’s as vital to me as breathing. Publishing things, that’s a different story.
8 – What type of books do you read?
I will read anything, except religious texts, hardcore sci-fi and Russian classics.
9 – What’s your second favorite hobby?
10 – Do you believe in aliens?
Not sure. Us being the only intelligent (?) species doesn’t make sense. But I have yet to see evidence to the contrary.
11 – Tell me a story.
There was a little girl who had a younger sister. Out of the goodness of her heart, she sneaked into Mum’s pantry and nicked a piece of chocolate to give to her sister. While she was at school, the younger sister followed her sibling’s steps and found the chocolate and ate it whole. When the older sister returned from school, she got an earful for eating the entire chocolate. It’s a true story.
My questions to the nominees:
1 – Why or when did you start writing your blog?
2 – What do you most often blog about?
3 – Do you primarily write your blog for the visitors/followers or for yourself?
4 – What is your favorite dish?
5 – Who are you rooting for at the FIFA World Cup 2014?
6 – If you won the lottery, how would you spend the money?
7 – Do you prefer print or eBooks?
8 – Your all time favorite novel is …
9 – Harry Potter or Twilight?
10 – What’s your biggest dream?
11 – What is your guilty pleasure?
And the nominees are (I didn’t make it to 11, I’m only getting to know new bloggers):
